Also, some of the pictures and answers didn't strike me as being completely accurate; it may just be me but it can also be said that there wasn't simply one emotion or thought in many of the faces I saw above.

Here in Asia, how much a gaze is averted speaks as much as how one looks at another because indirectness, non-confrontation, is the norm.

Perhaps as limited as these cut-outs are, many people will do very well (I haven't tested myself yet) but, again, I strongly believe that what makes us great readers of faces, of emotions, is the entire face, not just a sliver of eyes---after all, what you show us is the equivalent (somewhat) of a woman wearing a "Burqa" (is that what that is?!) and most of us would never discern anything from such an experience (perhaps sophisticated Afghanis with years of practice can).

As someone who has been diagnosed multiple times with NLD I am not surprised that I got only 17/36.
